Antoine Barnave
Birth: 1761
Death: 1793
Occupation: Politician
A prominent figure in the early French Revolution, Barnave was one of three deputies sent by the Constituent Assembly to join the royal family as they were being escorted back from Varennes in June 1791. This encounter led Barnave to engage in an extended secret correspondence with Marie-Antoinette regarding attempts to save the model of constitutional monarchy which had been under delicate construction since 1789.
