Marquis de Beurnonville

Birth: 1752

Death: 1821

Occupation: General; Minister of War

After serving as a general during the early months of war with Austria and Prussia, Beurnonville was then appointed Minister of War in February 1793 and the duchess records the date of his resignation correctly as 11 March. Subsequently, Beurnonville was selected by the Convention as a member of the deputation sent to arrest General Dumouriez. Dumouriez handed him over to the Austrians and he was only released in 1795, at which point he went back into active service.
