Michel Lepeletier

A deputy in the National Convention who was part of the majority there who had voted to execute the deposed king Louis XVI. Lepeletier was transformed into a martyr of the Revolution after his assassination by a royalist sympathiser, Philippe-Nicolas-Marie de Pâris, on 20 January 1793 - the eve of Louis being sent to the guillotine.
