Abbé Royer
Birth: 1739
Death: 1794
Occupation: Priest; Politician
Royer worked in the Paris Parlement before being appointed a state councillor in early 1789. He was elected a deputy for the First Estate (clergy) in the Estates General. He was part of the duchess's small social circle in 1793 until his arrest on 5 December. It is unclear over how many years or decades this friendship had stretched by that point. He was tried and sentenced to death by the Paris Revolutionary Tribunal on 7 July 1794.
